A Unique Opportunity in a Fast-growing Organization

Ventus Therapeutics is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our DMPK team in Montreal. The DMPK team as a central role in drug discovery, working closely with the chemistry, biology and pharmacology teams, screening compounds to evaluate their intrinsic DMPK properties and contributing to the optimisation of drug-like properties of compounds, ultimately leading to the identification and profiling of development candidates.

The ideal candidate is expected to have experience in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques, with the ability to partner with project teams and work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment. The candidate will mainly be involved with bioanalysis, LC/MS method development and maintenance, but will also have the opportunity to be involved in and learn all aspects of DMPK, including design and execution of in vitro assays such as metabolic stability, protein binding or permeability assays, planification and analysis of PK/PD studies and formulation selection and preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Involved in all aspects of DMPK work based on project needs
  • Develop LC-MS/MS methods on TripleQuad or exact mass spectrometers
  • Prepare samples for bioanalysis from PK and efficacy studies
  • Perform in vitro DMPK studies such as metabolic stability, CYP inhibition and protein binding
  • Acquire, analyze and report data to the team
  • Participate in elaboration of new protocols

Minimum qualifications

  • BSc or MSc degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience using Mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) in an academic or industry setting
  • Demonstrated laboratory proficiency, able to work independently, ability to adapt to project needs, eager to learn

Preferred qualifications

  • Expertise in developing LC-MS/MS method for small molecules, doing bioanalysis in a GLP-like environment, troubleshooting and maintaining LC-MS-MS instruments would be considered a strong asset
  • Specific skillsets in any aspect of DMPK from in vitro assays (metabolic stability, protein binding, DDI studies or transporters), formulation, bioanalysis in various matrices, PK parameters determination is an asset
  • Mass spectrometry experience working with high-resolution systems in proteomics, metabolomics or metabolite identification would be beneficial
